I am a senior researcher at the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER), Dresden, Germany and a member of the Young Academy for Sustainability Research (YAS), Freiburg, Germany.
I work towards steering academic thought and action towards ecosocial transformations. My current research and teaching focuses on urban energy transition and the associated social and ecological justice implications. I engage with critical climate urbanism and am interested in studying radical, bottom-up alternatives to urban unsustainability. My previous research has focused on planning for urban and regional climate action, energy transition and risk governance.
I adopt an inter- and transdisciplinary approach in my research. I am trained as an architect and urban planner and have worked in academia and practice in India, Canada and Germany. I am also an active guerrilla gardner.
